Nauvoo

In June we took a weekend trip to Nauvoo, IL. We left and arrived late on Friday night, then spent Saturday and Sunday morning looking at LDS Church History sites.

We arrived at night and drove past the temple before going to our B&B.

The next day we went to the visitor center and watched a band concert by the performing missionaires. Marcus loved it!!

Here is Marcus enjoying the band.

Statue of Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum Smith. This is them leaving for Carthage.

While Marcus took his afternoon nap I was able to go do a session at the temple. It was so beautiful and much needed.

We went on a wagon ride to see all the different historic places in Nauvoo. I'm glad we went since we didn't have time to walk around to see everything. Next time we'll see more.

This is a ferry like the ones they used to cross the Mississippi River when heading west.

We were in Nauvoo on Father's Day! This is Marcus helping Daddy open his present. What a wonderful father he is!!

I just thought Marcus looked so handsome in this picture---and it looks like he's posing, so cute!

Giving Marcus a shoulder ride, but he wanted to look at my face.

Chicago Cubs Game

Dave was offered some Cubs tickets at work. Little did we know they were on front row right next to the visitor dugout! It was so fun!

Look at Marcus' excited face :)

 We played against Pittsburgh Pirates.

Marcus was given a foul ball at the game.

His first time throwing a baseball, I think :)

May in Chicago

We made it to Chicago!!

Our place is nice and we've enjoyed it so far. It's hard not knowing many people, and being here short term doesn't help. But we are trying to make the most of it.

We went downtown for Memorial Day. We went to Millenium Park and the Buckingham Fountain. Then we got pizza at Pizanos.

This is called Cloud Gate, at Millenium Park. But it's probably more well known as "The Bean".

Taking a picture of ourselves in the bean, everyone does it :)

Down by Lake Michigan, standing next to some interesting art.

May in Cambridge

We moved mid-May to Chicago. But here's some pictures of the first half.

I made this. It was yummy. That is all.

Going for a bike ride with Marcus' new seat!

 I think he liked it!

Daddy and Marcus going for a ride.

I had brought in Marcus' car seat to clean it or something, and I walked into the room and found him sitting in it, naturally :)

Dave grew a beard during finals---so here's the proof :) He is so manly ;)

We went out to dinner with our friends the Chan's before we left for Chicago. They're moving back to Singapore :(. But we're happy for them, because I'm sure they were homesick---but they'll be missed!

A quick April

April came and went fast! But for Dave, who was studying for finals, it probably went slow. But he finished and did very well! Here are a couple pictures we took in April.

I found Marcus in the kitchen with cheerios all over. For him it was a feast---and he enjoyed it. I even let him enjoy it for a few minutes---because, why not?

Marcus fell down some stairs outside and scraped his face---very sad day. But he recovered well, and quickly. And we watched him much closer after that!!

I went to the Franklin Park Zoo with the Harvard couple's association. I really went with my friend Sarah though, and her adorable little boy Micah. Here's Micah and Marcus in front of the kangaroos, totally not caring :)

Adorable.

DC Kanigan Visit

We went to DC for spring break to visit my sister Becki and her family. We had so much fun and relaxed so much that we forgot to take any pictures!! Seriously, we're lame. But the last day Becki grabbed the camera for a quick picture with us and her kids. And then she was so nice to take some family pictures for us at the Jefferson Memorial. Thanks for the fun weekend Kanigans!!!

March brings Easter!

Our Relief Society had a little Easter egg hunt for the primary kids. It was fun to watch Marcus be completely interested in anything but the eggs :). But with some encouragement he "found" about 6 eggs.
Placing an egg in the basket.

Here is a group shot we got :)

The Harvard Law Couple's Association also had an Easter Egg Hunt. It was also a lot of fun---and it was fun to have Dave with us for this one.

 "Finding" more eggs :)

And Easter morning brought his first Easter "basket". I thought he'd appreciate a bucket with a shovel more.
And this is just a random picture of Marcus brushing his hair :)
