December 2013

 December was a busy month with Dave's finals and getting ready for Christmas. We had some fun parties too. And tried to do some local Christmas-themed activities.

On the 18-31 Dec we went to Utah to visit family. We had a great time! We stayed with my sister Kirstin, my brother Will, my brother Nate and my sister Emily. We were horrible about taking pictures----but still got some good ones :)

 They had a fun sand area for kids to play at the Dinosaur Museum. He was in heaven.

We spent Christmas morning with my parents. It was really nice. We slept in and got ready before even opening presents----luckily Marcus is still young enough to not quite know what's going on :)

Our family is getting so large that we have trouble all fitting in anyone's house. So my mom was able to rent her works gym (elementary school). It was really nice to have more space---and the kids seemed to like all the runaround space.

 And here is most of our family (Brian and Brooklyn and family couldn't make it). It was so fun to have so many of us there! We are definitely growing!!

We went with my brother Nate and his son to see the Golden Spike monument while we stayed with them. It was nice because they got the steam engines out. It was so fun---and we made it just in time thanks to Nate's speedy driving :)

 Marcus LOVES trains right now, so he really enjoyed this.

While staying with my sister Emily we went to the Fire Department to get a tour. My brother-in-law Jared is fireman :)

 Even though Marcus loves fire trucks, he seemed to enjoy them more from a distance :)

And Emily was nice enough to give us all haircuts---including Marcus. He did better than last time thankfully---the fruits snacks helped I think!

November 2013: Boston MFA and Thanksgiving

In November we finally went to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. It was pretty fun! We took Marcus and he did pretty well, for an art museum. He loved it when we let him out of the stroller and he could hear the sound of his shoes on the hard floor and the echos it made.

I told Dave I wanted a piano like this someday :)

We had our Thanksgiving dinner with some law school friends---it was really nice and fun! We are certainly very grateful for the friends we have here!! We had dinner at Christy & Jared's house (across the street) and then we came to our house for dessert.

 Marcus LOVES to help me stir anything and everything. He will always be in the kitchen when I'm cooking or baking just waiting for his turn to stir. He likes to help mommy.

 My friend Christy's rice-krispie turkey. We all put a feather in the turkey and told everyone what we were thankful for. I liked this idea a lot---I may be adopting it :)

October 2013: Apple-picking, Candle-pin bowling, Head of Charles Regatta, Martha's Vineyard & Capecod and Halloween

Holy cow, we did a lot in October!! Here it goes:

I'm in charge of the Harvard Law Couple's Association this year and we went on our annual apple-picking trip. We just drove about 45 minutes out of town to Parlee Farms. It was fun to ride the Hay Wagon out to the orchards and Marcus loved picking apples. We also had cider and donuts at the end which were so good!

 

We went Candle-pin bowling with Marcus on a rainy Saturday. He was hesitant at first, but then loved it in the end. The balls in candle-pin bowling are smaller---so it's easier for someone his age to play.

Marcus beat us the first game, but I won the second :)

We went to a Harvard football game with some friends, good times!

We live right across the street from the Charles River. Every year there is a Head of the Charles Regatta (rowing competition). It's always fun to walk around and watch part of the event.

We decided to spend a weekend at Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard. We went very late in the season which turned out to be a bit of a mistake. Less busy, but not much to do.

  But it closed the day before we got there, lame.

For Halloween Marcus was a puppy. He didn't like his costume at first, but as the night grew colder he appreciated it's warmth more. We went to Beacon Hill in Boston, up by the State House. It's a popular place to go, and we now know why. The residents there decorate everything so well!

 We got Marcus a tiny little pumpkin bag---but we had to constantly dump it's contents into the stroller. Good intentions, but not realistic for Beacon Hill :)

 Trick or Treat!

 I love all the red bricks in the neighborhood. Plus the beautiful fall trees made it so pretty!

 Once we got back to Cambridge we ran into our friends in our neighborhood---so we joined them for a bit of trick-or-treating too. It was so fun seeing these cute little boys all dressed up.

And we collected way to much candy in the end---that of course I ate mostly myself. Bad idea going trick-or-treating :). But it was a fun night!!
