It was a lot of work packing up only what we needed for the summer and then organizing our apartment for the sub-letters. We are sub-letting it furnished. So we had 3 different places to put everything---into the Uhaul for the summer, into the basement to store all summer or leave out for the sub-letters. It was a lot of work!! It was especially hard because one of us had to take care of Marcus most of the time. He's getting better at entertaining himself, but still demands a lot of attention.
We left quite a bit later than we wanted to when we moved down to DC. It's an 8 hour drive, not counting stops, and we didn't leave until almost 1 p.m. Dave drove the Uhaul and I drove our car with Marcus. We purchased some walk-talkies so we could chat on the way down. It was really nice having them. It made the drive much more enjoyable. We arrived at our apartment in Alexandria, VA at 12:30 a.m. We were so tired---but glad to make it in one day.
We like our apartment a lot. The kitchen is much better than our place in Cambridge (not hard to beat though :)). It's only one bedroom---but definitely do-able for just the summer. We have a washer/dryer and a dishwasher which we don't in Cambridge. So we like that a lot too! But having said all that, we do miss Massachusetts. It's much more humid here. The complex does have a pool though. We took Marcus already---he's warming up to it.
And here's the Marcus update: He's super adorable!! And in the last couple weeks he's learned to roll over. He can go from his back to tummy very well. But he has a harder time going from tummy to back. He is still sleeping pretty well at night. But the last few days he's been waking up because he rolls onto his tummy and doesn't like to wake up not being able to turn over. Hopefully he'll master turning over from tummy to back soon. Then we'll be less worried about him in his crib too. Thankfully we have an Angelcare monitor---which alerts you if he doesn't move---or breath. So that's a comfort.
I'll try to be better at updating the blog this summer. We're going to do as much as we can in DC with Marcus---it won't be easy, but we'll try :)
Here's some pictures from the last little while:
Like father, like son :)
Reading books with mom.
Looking in the mirror :)
Love that smile!
"Daddy's little helper" as the shirt says.

After the new breathable bumper :)
So opposite, but both so cute!
His new favorite thing---holding onto and sucking his toes :)
